Seventh Grader’s Experience in Boston: Epic Adventures & Insider Tips

Our trip to Boston was epic! Right after we landed from Detroit, we hit up Little Italy in Boston. We had this amazing dinner and got to walk around, which was a super cool way to start everything. It felt like we were stepping into a whole new world!

The next day, we walked the Freedom Trail, and it was like traveling back in time. We saw all these ancient buildings and learned so much cool stuff about history. Then, we hit Faneuil Hall for some shopping. I bought my new favorite sweatshirt! But the visit to Harvard was something else – their gift shop was super pricey, though. I mean, a pencil for $5? Really?

Staying at the hotel was the best. It was like a mini-adventure on its own, being responsible for our room and hanging out with friends without any parents. It felt so grown-up and exciting. And then, ice skating at the Frog Pond was the highlight of the trip! Sliding around on the ice with everyone, laughing and trying not to fall, was just the best.

Oh, and we also got to see Ol’ Ironsides! Seeing that ship up close was so cool. It’s like a piece of history just sitting there, and thinking about all the stories it could tell made my imagination go wild!

On the third day, we met this professor who talked to us about wind research, which was kind of mind-blowing. The Museum of Science was awesome, and the IMAX movie about New England made me want to explore even more. And ice skating on the Frog Pond? BEST. THING. EVER. It was so much fun skating with everyone and just messing around on the ice.

The robotics workshop on day four was super fun. I never knew robots could do so many cool things. And the view from View Boston was incredible! You could see the whole city, and it looked so beautiful from up there. Our farewell dinner was bittersweet. I was really sad to leave Boston.

Saying goodbye to Boston was tough. I loved every minute of our trip, from the history lessons on the Freedom Trail to the late-night chats at the hotel.

A huge THANK YOU to the Global Citizen Program for making this trip happen. It was an unforgettable adventure, and I hope we can do something like this again really soon!
